Allan Gray Orbis Foundation – National Fellowship Jamboree 2018

July 21, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is of the firm belief that high-impact responsible entrepreneurs will contribute to a positive economic, social and political change in Southern Africa. The Foundation therefore exists to provide access to education and exposure to entrepreneurship to individuals who display the potential to become these future high-impact responsible entrepreneurs.

The Allan Gray Fellowship is an opportunity that invests in students intending to study at a South African university. Students who are awarded the Fellowship are known as Candidate Allan Gray Fellows. The Fellowship is the most comprehensive university scholarship opportunity in South Africa and runs throughout the academic year alongside the Candidate Fellow’s university studies which includes seminars, guest speakers, experiential learning activities and project-based learning deliverables. Candidate Fellows also benefit from an extensive mentoring programme.

The Fellowship was initiated in 2006 and is now operating at nine university campuses around the country (WITS, UJ, UFS, UP, UCT, UWC, Stellenbosch, NMU and Rhodes) with a national cohort of 399 Candidate Allan Gray Fellows.

The National Jamboree squarely focuses on unlocking the power of Fellowship community. Over the course of two days, a process of Open Space Technology is used to maximise the sharing of entrepreneurial ideas in a way that catalyses passion and promotes action. This entrepreneurial event is considered the Fellowship’s flagship annual event.
